Wild Briar "the
country inn at Edom" |
Wild Briar, the country inn at Edom, was born of the dreams of Max and Mary Scott, after extensive visits to Great Britain. The Scotts made plans for their own country inn in East Texas, borrowing ideas from their best loved memories of inns they had visited. The result is a British-Welsh-Scottish-French country inn with a bit of Texas throughout! Located on 23 acres, guests are free to stroll the land, loll by the spring-fed pond or enjoy the large shaded patio while experiencing the seasons of East Texas. Common areas for guests include a large gathering room with games, puzzles, books, and a grand piano. The "snug" is a cozy paneled room with carpet and an antique tin ceiling. It offers satellite television, a phone, and soft drinks. |
A full breakfast is served in the spacious garden room which is accented with stained glass windows. Individual entree orders are taken while "starters" of fresh fruit, muffins and juice are selected from a buffet. Early coffee is available in the kitchen. Wild Briar's six guest rooms are individually decorated, focusing on specific inns and areas of Great Britain. From antique bonnetiers and wardrobes to a French sleigh bed, each room reflects attention to style and comfort. All bedrooms have a private marble bath. Three bedrooms are on the main level; three suites are on the second floor. |

Included with your stay is a scrumptious dinner served in the elegant dining room which is decorated with antique pub tables and sideboards. Dinner includes Mary's signature mini-cinnamons, soup and salad, a choice of two entrees, vegetables and dessert, all prepared in the inn's kitchen.
Dinner is available to non-guests by 24-hour advance reservation, subject to availability. Luncheons for groups of 10 or more may be booked with 48-hour advance reservations, Monday through Thursday, upon availability. Wild Briar is also available for weddings, rehearsal dinners, and special events. |
